Ricky Shiffer, who died in a confrontation with police after he fired a nail gun at a Cincinnati FBI building and opened fire with an AR-15-style rifle on officers after fleeing, appeared to post on Truth Social before and during the incident. Shiffer posted on the Trump Media-run social media platform about his desire to kill FBI agents and even posted a message on the site detailing his failed attempt to gain entry to the FBI building, NBC News reports. He posted to Truth Social multiple times in the days after the FBI searched Trump’s residence in Palm Beach, Florida, about wanting to engage in violence.
One post called for people to arm themselves and be ready for “combat.” After another user responded that his photo and information had been forwarded to the FBI, Shiffer’s account responded: “Bring them on.” Shiffer further said that users should kill FBI agents “on sight” and also target a vague list of enemies who try to stop the slayings. He also responded in support of posts made by both Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green and Donald Trump, Jr. on Twitter that referred to conspiracy theories and compared the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago to themes from the George Orwell book 1984.
