A 19-year-old has been charged after crashing a pickup truck into a security barrier near the White House on Monday, Al Jazeera reports. Sai Varshith Kandula, a teenager who later told Secret Service agents he admired the “great history” of the Nazis and their “authoritarian nature, eugenics, and their one world order,” waved a swastika banner in Lafayette Park after crashing his rented truck.
No injuries were reported, and no explosives or weapons were found in the truck or on Kandula. Kandula described his plan to Secret Service agents, telling them that he intended to seize power and “kill the president, if that’s what I have to do.” Kandula faces multiple charges including assault, destruction of federal property, trespassing and threatening to kill, kidnap, or inflict harm on a president, vice president or family member.
