Another Firm Says ‘All Aboard’ To Higher Associate Salaries

The raise train keeps picking up passengers. With associates eagerly tracking every compensation announcement and firms facing increasing pressure to remain competitive, another firm has decided to match the latest salary scale set by Milbank and keep the momentum going.

On Friday, the Groom Law Group, a D.C. firm specializing in benefits, health, and retirement law, announced that it would be matching the new associate salary scale. The executive committee noted in its memo concerning the raises that “[t]his investment reflects our appreciation for the talent, dedication, and hard work of our associates, whose contributions are essential to delivering exceptional service to our clients and strengthening the Groom brand.” Check out the firm’s new compensation grid.

  • 1st Year: $235,000
  • 2nd Year: $245,000
  • 3rd Year: $270,000
  • 4th Year: $320,000
  • 5th Year: $385,000
  • 6th Year: $410,000
  • 7th Year: $440,000
  • 8th Year: $455,000

Not only will the firm be adopting the Milbank money scale, it will also be paying the difference between its current salary scale and the new scale in two lump sum payments, one in September and one in December.
