Ed. Note: Welcome to our daily feature Trivia Question of the Day!
Before Abe Fortas became the only Supreme Court justice ever driven from the bench by scandal (and years after he argued the landmark right-to-counsel case Gideon v. Wainwright), he co-founded which Washington law firm? Fortas was a name partner alongside a former head of the Justice Department’s antitrust division and a former FCC chairman, and it remains a marquee Biglaw firm today (though Fortas’s name came off the masthead when he left for the Court).
Hint: Today the firm goes by just the two surviving founders’ surnames. Both were New Deal power brokers, and one of them had been a federal appeals judge before hanging out a shingle.
